Should I Outsource Article Writing?

Lots of us start out in the world of blogging and website creation because of our love of a certain subject. I know this was the case for me. I wanted to create a website about music and music production, so I did, and it was fun to create the content to fill the website. However, as time has gone on, I have realised that to really make the most out of the potential to make money on the internet might involve writing about (or running websites about) subjects and niches I might not necessarily know a lot about or be passionate about. What I am passionate about is being an internet marketer and making a living on the internet. If that means that I have to create the odd website about fungal infections then so be it. I still find time for my passions and make sure that as much as possible is about subjects I love as I think it makes for the best content.

A solution for those times when you’re faced with a writing challenge you just dont feel up to (or keen on), or even purely when you find yourself utterly swamped, is to outsource article writing to those who either do it for a living or are looking to take on clients to make a bit of spare cash. You may decide that your time is better spent managing and building your website empire and that you’d rather employ somebody to do this for you.

What does it cost?

In my experience, you get what you pay for. There are unique article writing services on, and if your budget is extremely restricted, or if you’re just looking for some secondary content, then perhaps this is an option. For the best services, you should probably experiment with oDesk and Elance, where you can expect to pay a bit more for your articles, but it may well be worth the investment in the long run.

Rules of Outsourcing Article Writing

In my experience, there are a few simple rules you should follow to make your life a lot easier when it comes to outsourcing writing. Here goes:

  1. Make sure you clearly define the article you are looking for to the person who will be writing it.
  2. Try and get a native English speaking writer OR an exceptionally well spoken/written foreign writer. A Skype conversation will give you an idea.
  3. Check that the content sent to you is unique!
  4. Find a good network of article writers and stick with them.

Being able to outsource is one of the benefits of the internet in this modern age, and writing is no exception. If your websites are making you thousands of dollars a month, you perhaps wont mind spending a few hundred dollars on some content for them to free up your time. You need to be careful, but yes, outsourcing is a good game to get to the top of.
